A visit from our New Yorker

Cassie came into town to see Wyatt before he heads out to serve the Lord for a couple of years, and we had a good time while she was here. On Saturday we had plan to go boating but we needed to get a few of the rows of pumpkins hoed first. Cassie lost the city and became the farm girl and helped us out.

Thanks for all your help Cassie, we will have to pick a pumpkin for you.

We are starting to see lots of blossoms.

We are still fighting the squash bugs, so yes that is Lilli trying to get to boating a little faster by spraying in her swim suit.

I had to take this picture because McKinley not only hoed but sprayed the pumpkins in her helmet. After Bonnie's remark about not wearing there helmets she only takes it off to sleep. Thanks Bonnie for keeping us safe.

So this looks like it could be our first pumpkin.

Finally time to play. It didn't take Cassie long to get right back in the groove of it.

Matt is really enjoying himself now.

The early bird gets the worm

When I walked out my door this morning to go for my run, this was what I saw. It never ceases to amaze me what a beautiful world that we live in. I do enjoy sleeping in sometimes, but I also really enjoy seeing the world wake up in the morning.

Rip Sticks

McKinley and Gavin have been working pretty hard this summer, and they both were able to save enough money for a rip stick. They make it look so easy to ride. I learned for myself that it is a lot harder then it looks.

Dinner Time

I could not resist taking a picture of Lilli tonight when I called her in to dinner because as you can see she was so dirty. I asked her what she had been doing and her response was "I was eating my jello outside." I hope she could taste it past the dirt, because I am sure she couldn't see it through those dirty glasses.

Raspberries

My entire family LOVES raspberries, and the only bad thing about that is they are not cheep. So when my Mom told me that one of her friends had said that we could pick her raspberries while she was out of town we took her up on it. Now I understand why they're not cheep. It takes a lot of effort and scratches to get just one small bowl of raspberries. I am sure that the pros do it different but we had a good time in the raspberry patch, and an eve better time eating them.

McKin and G-man seem to find the hardest places to get to, I guess they saw some good raspberries there.

Matt was having lots of flashbacks of his childhood, picking strawberries and raspberries.

The girls were eating them as fast as we could pick them.

Matt was our ray of sunshine in his ti-dyed shirt. To be honest I don't think he enjoyed picking raspberries to much, but thanks for coming.

Happy 4th of July!

What an awesome country that we live in. I am so grateful for the past and present service men and women and there families. They sacrifice so much to allow us the freedoms that I enjoy everyday of my life.

We had a great 4th of July. Gavin, Mckinley, and I started the day at 5:00 setting out flags. Then Matt and I enjoyed a round of golf with my parents. I did not get a picture but Matt made a 50 foot putt, and 1 foot shy of a hole in one. We finished the day off with a much needed dip in the pool and a BBQ at my in-laws. Thank you for all the fun.

This year Gavin played in the Mustang League which is the first year to have the kids pitch. It becomes a much different game than last years coach pitch. Gavin played a little of every position, and did a great job. We had the tournament last week and I was a little sad that we were done with baseball season because I really enjoyed watching Gavin play and the coach was easy on the eyes. Then on Thursday I got a call from one of the winning teams and they wanted to pick Gavin up to play with them in another tournament. He is pretty excited to get to play more as I am to watch.

I guess the moral of this story is that I need to stop yelling and do less work.

Pumpkin update.

I am happy to report that we planted the pumpkins a couple of weeks ago. We ended up starting the seeds in a greenhouse and planting 1500 pumpkin plants. Unfortunately pumpkins are not the only thing growing in our patch, we also have lots of weeds. With a lesson from Grandpa and a hoe for each of the kids they are getting up early and trying to keep the weeds down.

On Monday we were out watering the pumpkins and, Kyler was telling us that there was a bug on the pumpkin plant. McKinley went over to investigate and we soon found out that we are already being attacked by squash bugs. I was off to IFA for spray and Craig to Wal-mart for sprayers and that is why the pumpkin plant looks white. It is just a waiting game now to see who wins, the squash bugs or us.

I hope that the pumpkins are twice this size on the next update.
